गुलजार साहब के बारे में ये भी कहा जाता है कि वो सिर्फ कुर्ता-पाजामा पहनते हैं. इस पर भी गुलजार साहब ने साफ किया था कि वो कुर्जा पाजामा नहीं पहनते बल्कि सफेद रंग का ट्राउजर भी पहनते हैं.
